Hi, I'm Alfie.

About

I'm a final year student studying Economics, Entrepreneurship and Data Science at Reichman University, from London, now in Herzliya. I always say “I'd rather create more than I consume” so I try to build things that are actually useful, not just random projects. Right now I'm looking for internships and roles in data, analytics and finance.

Most of them start with a problem I've had. LocalFlow is dictation that runs on my laptop instead of a monthly subscription. The IDC revision site holds all my course's lectures, problem sets and past papers in one place, and I shared it with my classmates to use as well.

Away from a screen I'm a self-proclaimed, skilled pool player and professional optimist. I enjoy playing sports like football, table tennis and pickleball and whilst I don't claim to be competitive, I always make sure to win. The rest of my hobbies include fashion, sheshbesh (backgammon), and meeting people who are also trying to build something.

Business & Mathematics Teacher

King Solomon School
  • Taught IGCSE Business Studies to a group of four 16-year-olds, about 6 hours a week.
  • Invited back for a second year, on the students' feedback, to teach them AS-Level Mathematics and Business Studies.
  • Wrote my own lesson plans, worksheets, question banks and mock papers.

Mathematics & Economics Teacher

London Beit Mechina
  • Supported the lead teachers across several A-Level Mathematics and Economics classes: 12 students, about 8 hours a week.
  • Ran homework and practice sessions from my own worksheets and question banks.
  • Students finished two grades above where they started, on average.

Financial Analyst

Shelley Company
  • Short project reporting to the CEO, who had bought an office to let to entrepreneurs and small businesses.
  • Built the one-year cash-flow forecast in Excel, with base, upside and downside cases (~£700k revenue).
  • Priced the space line by line, from hot desks to printing, and challenged the CEO's assumptions with market comparables; the revised plan was worth a 15–20% margin improvement.

Reichman University

  • Selected for the Honors track, a cohort of about 20 in entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership.
  • Exempt from the pre-degree maths course, so tutored incoming students through its problem sets instead.
